Born and raised in Texas, James grew up in the suburbs of Houston before moving to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 2016 to attend Louisiana State University, where he earned a B.A. in English and Creative Writing. Upon moving back to Houston in 2020 to pursue a law degree at South Texas College of Law, James discovered his passion for advocacy, becoming a member of the Board of Advocates. As an advocate, James competed in multiple national competitions on behalf of South Texas College of Law’s Moot Court and Mock Trial Teams and won the 2022 Trials and Tribulations Mock Trial National Championship Competition hosted by the University of Georgia Law School. During law school, James gained experience in both the public and private sectors, clerking for the Houston District Attorney’s Office and for a boutique personal injury firm, where he assisted on medical malpractice, products liability, premises liability, and general negligence lawsuits.

Before joining Donato, Brown, Pool & Moehlmann, James practiced at a civil defense litigation firm, where he handled a wide range of cases, including insurance coverage disputes, construction defects, products liability, premises liability, medical malpractice, and personal injury. At DBPM, James’s commitment to hard work assists him with handling a diverse civil litigation docket while providing thoughtful advocacy, creative and strategic problem-solving, and results for his clients.
